Safety services for recreational vessels conducting ocean passages
Having signed up and entered your vessel information, simply open a float plan for each passage.
There are TWO service levels to choose from;
Basic passage monitoring detects and acts when a vessel is overdue. Not suitable for detecting unexpected mishaps.
MANDATORY daily welfare report from vessel to Passage Guardian at midday each day on passage.
Transmitting AIS recommended.
Satellite wifi hotspot (Starlink or Iridium Go! Exec) recommended.
Passage Guardian checks that daily welfare reports are received.
If a daily welfare report is not received, Passage Guardian commences the Missed Daily Welfare Report Procedure.
Enhanced passage monitoring detects and acts on a vessel being overdue or possibly incurring a mishap.
Daily Welfare Report (per above) plus;
MANDATORY tracker reporting positions from vessel to a web page hourly, 24 hours a day.
Passage Guardian checks vessel tracker reported position at least twice daily whilst on passage.
Ensure the equipment below (if carried) is switched on and working;
AIS transponder
Satellite tracker
Satphone (if float plan states it will be on)
Transmit a daily welfare report near midday local time each day.
If you requested GMDSS weather forecasts, check your ship email address daily. The forecasts are sent via email between 0800-1000 UTC.
Within 24 hours of your arrival, login to this web site and close your float plan.
If no Internet connectivity at your destination, send SMS to +64 21 279 4995 quoting your vessel name, MMSI and text ‘float plan closed'.
