MF/HF Distress & Calling Frequencies
Voice - mode USB or J3E
The MF/HF distress & calling frequencies should be programmed into the first six channels of your marine MF/HF transceiver.
Select 8291 KHz before switching the radio off so that frequency is the default at power on.
2182 | 4125 | 6215 | 8291 | 12290 | 16420 |
Note:
All ships ceased monitoring the above frequencies in 1999, and very few remaining maritime coast stations monitor them 24/7 today.
For the above reasons, and the complexity involved in operating the equipment during an emergency, a MF/HF transceiver WITHOUT DSC (digital selective calling) capability should NOT be relied upon in an emergency.
